It was a closely contested game down at Back Lane, between a Brewers team on the up and a Congleton Vale side that showed much promise early on in the season.
However, it was a Jake McGarry strike on the half hour mark that ultimately separated the sides. That's goal number 27 for McGarry in a mere 11 games, let's hope there are plenty more to come!
Brewers stroked the ball around well in the first half, playing some attractive football and perhaps some of their best this season. However, they were unable to turn their dominance in to more goals, going in to half time one nil ahead.
In the second half, Vale made a real fight of it and will be kicking themselves that they didn’t take at least a point from this encounter after dictating much of the play. In particular, they might ponder on how the game could have been different if they had converted a first half penalty.
However, some resilient defending from the Brewers back four and inspirational performances from Matthew Delargy, Sam Pilley and goalkeeper Dominic Chell proved enough to secure all three points.
That's now seven league games without defeat for the Brewers who move up to second in the league.
