Blueberry turned the form book on its head as they held free scoring Brewers at Mary Dendy Fields. Brewers were perhaps guilty of underestimating Blueberry and thought they would stroll to victory, on the other hand Blueberry turned up to battle!!. Brewers were crucially missing their deadly strike force of Danny Bailey and Jake McGarry.
Brewers struggled in the conditions and Blueberry took full advantage Ben Atkins giving the home side a deserved lead on the half hour. Brewers Caretaker manager Nathan Towns, who was applauded on to the field by the fans, pulled no punches at half time giving his charges a real blast. It appeared to work as twenty minutes in they were level, Martin Firth’s cross come shot taking a wicked deflection off the unfortunate Jonny Walker to beat goalkeeper Dave Mellor who was celebrating his 40th birthday.
Blueberry could have snatched the game right at the death but Dec Druce put the ball over from from six yards.
